Brought to you in collaboration by Friendly Forces and The Fratty Guard
Happy Friday.
I don’t know about you, but these days it feels like there’s never enough time for anything. That said, we really want to start leaning into this newsletter and providing value and consistent content for the community.
Admittedly, we’re still tweaking the format and aura of the newsletter. If you have ideas for types of content you would like to see, we are receptive to that as long as you stand at parade rest when you email us.
This week is kind of a grab bag.
We also ask that you share the newsletter with other hitters who might find it useful or entertaining. They can sign up here: https://part-time-hitter-newsletter-7341ad.beehiiv.com/subscribe

Friendly Forces Updates
The Friendly Forces team has been busy. We wanted to share a couple of recent wins for the community.
At the tail end of 2024, we helped Webster Bank change its military leave policy from two weeks pay differential to 12 months pay differential. We worked with their HR team and an internal reservist employee to make this happen. The impact is negligible to a company, but MASSIVE to reservist employees and their families.
Similarly, we recently helped Box change its military leave policy from 30 days pay differential to 6 months pay differential. Again, a reservist employee connected his HR team with the Friendly Forces squad and we worked collaboratively to get internal decision-makers to see the light and update the policy.
Huge props to both companies. What’s the pattern here? You all (reservists) telling your company about Friendly Forces and the work we do. Help us make change.
We are currently working with a dozen or so other companies to elevate their policies. Will keep you posted on those.
Good or bad, reach out and let us know your company’s policy. If it’s good—we want to add them to our list. If it’s bad, we want to partner and help them—and you.
Reach out to [email protected] to submit.

Snappin’ necks and cashin’ checks since 1836.
The Fratty Guard Updates
The Fratty Guard store has some new merch in the works—I’m talking new tees and tanks, silkies, and some other pretty “bussing” concepts. Other merch continues to fly off the shelf, but we await to see how these GYAT damn tariffs will effect our supply chain and EBITDA. Fortunately, Captain Chadwick is prepared to execute a series of bold financial maneuvers to pivot and stay cash-flow negative should the need arise.

In other news, Captain Steele Chadwick, founder and CEO of The Fratty Guard and Managing Partner at Chadwick Capital continues to disrupt LinkedIn with his mind boggling thought leadership.
We are incredibly proud of CPT Chadwick for recently announcing on LinkedIn that he has committed to doing 100,000 informational coffee meetings with veterans by the end of the summer.
While he did not leave a way to contact him to schedule an informational coffee meet up, his executive assistant assured us that he would “move some things around” to accommodate them in his schedule.
How much do you want to bet the LAMEstream media won’t cover this incredibly brave and patriotic act?

PART⚡TIME HITTER PODCAST
We are currently behind on recording and scheduling but have some pretty awesome guests in the chute.

Deep Thoughts by PART TIME HITTER
The Corporate “Say-Do” Gap
I recently read Careless People: A Cautionary Tale of Power, Greed, and Lost Idealism by Sarah Wynn-Williams, and I’ve been thinking about it alot. If you’re not familiar, the book recounts her experience as a Public Policy executive at Facebook (now Meta) from around 2011 to 2017. During that time, she worked closely with Mark Zuckerberg, Sheryl Sandberg (then COO), and other top executives. As she tells it, she foresaw the far-reaching global impact the platform would have—on media, data privacy rights, and elections—long before anyone at Facebook seemed to grasp it. She was so far ahead of the curve that she essentially talked her way into creating the role for herself, despite being a random person off the street.
Over the years, she came to the disturbing realization that Facebook’s leadership operated without a moral compass. In her account, Zuckerberg and others consistently chose profits over principles—knowingly failing to protect user data, bending or breaking platform rules for authoritarian leaders to maintain market access, handing over sensitive data and tech to the CCP to gain entry into China, lying to Congress, enabling sexual harassment, and generally fostering a toxic, self-serving culture.
What struck me most was how deeply the public personas of Zuckerberg and Sandberg clashed with who they actually were—especially Sandberg. After publishing her 2013 best-seller Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead, Sandberg became the face of a movement promoting gender equality in the workplace. Lean In encourages women to pursue leadership, overcome systemic barriers, and push back against bias. But behind the scenes, Sandberg reportedly punished Sarah for becoming pregnant—sending her on overseas trips while she was sick and pregnant, making her work while in labor at the hospital, and eventually putting her on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) for “not being responsive enough” during her approved maternity leave. In short, Sandberg did the exact opposite of what she publicly championed.
That part hit me hard because I see the same kind of hypocrisy in the way some companies treat military reservists. As Executive Director of Friendly Forces, I’ve said it before: this is one of my biggest pet peeves. If your company doesn’t want to support the military or reservists, that’s your choice—but you don’t get to pretend you do just to win praise or polish your brand.
Anyway, the book was fascinating and Sarah Wynn-Williams testified before congress just last week.
