PTH Quick Takes
First things first, free shit for Veterans Day.
Gotta catch em’ all!
Energy Jobs: Veterans’ Secret Power Source
The energy sector is booming — and veterans are perfectly wired for it. From maintaining turbines to managing logistics, your service skills translate directly into high-paying, mission-driven civilian work. Renewables, infrastructure, traditional energy — they all want what you’ve got: discipline, reliability, and results. Translation: your next career move might involve hard hats and grid maps instead of camo. If you’re between drills and wondering what’s next, the energy industry could be your new AO. Link to article
Pentagon Wants Cyber Ninjas — Yesterday
Cyber isn’t a side hustle anymore — it’s the new battlefield, and DoD just dropped a major overhaul to fix its talent pipeline. The Pentagon’s updated cyber-talent plan is basically saying: “If you can code, defend, or hack legally, we want you.” Expect more lateral entries, flexible gigs, and maybe even better pay (finally). Reservists with tech chops should take note — your weekend skills might soon be your weekday uniform. The cyber front line needs part-timers too. Link to article
Shutdowns Hurt the PART⚡TIME Bois
The National Interest points out what every Reservist already knows: when Congress can’t pass a budget, it’s not just some “DC thing.” A shutdown means drills get canceled, training stalls, and readiness slides. Reserve components make up nearly half of the U.S. military, yet they’re first to feel the hit when the money stops. No drills = no pay, no training = no readiness. The article calls it what it is — a slow erosion of a “fight tonight” force. It’s not just inconvenient; it’s a national security own goal. Link to article

Empowering Reservists
Friendly Forces SITREP
Friendly Forces remains super busy (we are literally dying).
1) Companies that will be added to the Friendlies List this:
Zscaler
Trijicon
2) We are currently working on white paper for about seven companies to help them improve their military leave policies.
TELL YOUR COMPANY ABOUT US if your company sucks with military leave. This is how they come to us and we start helping them do better.
Have your HR/talent folks reach out to [email protected].
3) Last week Eric Evans did a podcast appearance where the question of putting Guard/Reserve service on your resume came up. We’re curious to see if people do this or not. We might turn it into a piece to show industry the challenges we face even just getting hired as military members. Take our quick poll and let us know
If you're currently in the Guard/Reserve, do you list it on your resume? |

SPECIAL OPERATIONS LEGEND AND BILLIONAIRE CALLS FOR IMMEDIATE END TO VETERAN DISABILITY COMPENSATION
LinkedIn Veteran of the Year Captain Steele Chadwick, Special Operations legend and billionaire venture capitalist, today called for an immediate end to VA disability compensation.
Under Chadwick’s vision, the billions disbursed annually by the VA to disabled veterans would be reallocated into a “Patriot Profit Fund,” managed exclusively by special operations veterans working in venture capital.
Chadwick argues that venture capitalists—not disabled veterans—are best equipped to manage these funds.
“Veterans are heroes, but responsible capital investment is not a core competency, and the majority of them were not even special operations,” Chadwick said. “Every year, billions in disability payments are squandered on individual spending—rent, therapy, groceries, etc. The pioneering financial leaders of this great country, with proven expertise, can transform this capital into economic growth.”
When asked what kind of dividend disabled veterans would receive from the Patriot Profit Fund, Chadwick said that his team is “taking a strong look at that possibility.”
The Fratty Guard, a lifestyle brand for military Reservists that manages a diverse portfolio including Oper8r Lube—a military-grade personal lubricant line—and Lumière Intime, a high-end wellness company specializing in pubic hair bleach, is expected to explore “synergistic opportunities” across its holdings to support the initiative.
“We’ll deploy Patriot Profit capital into the only sectors worth fighting for—high-yield, high-risk arenas like emerging tech, pharma, crypto, and luxury goods,” Chadwick said. “Our nation must support VCs because they represent the best of us.”
Chadwick urged Congress to take swift action on this transformative initiative. “I speak for all veterans when I say we don’t want handouts. We want our disability compensation managed by our social and intellectual superiors. We just need lawmakers with the courage to make it happen.”

What We’re Running: M-FLEX 8s by OTB Boots
When we first started the PTH newsletter, we had a section called “What We’re Running” where we would highlight a product or kit item we liked.
We’re bringing it back this week because OTB Boots was generous enough to send us some gear to try out after CPT Chadwick threatened requested them.
Rule #1: Always look cool.
Rule #2: Don’t get lost.
Rule #3: If you do get lost, refer to rule #1.
We haven’t gotten to run them during any HVT raids yet, but so far they are pretty cool. Super light weight, durable, supportive, and comfortable. Pretty stoked about them quite honestly.
We got the M-Flex 8s, but also have our eye on the M-Carbon 8s which are carbon-plated. I don’t know why this is better but it sounds cool and I need them.
If you’re in the market for some new boots, these are pretty money. Use our affiliate link and we’ll make 8 cents.
