Also you’re fired.
We Support The Troops…Kind of - Stupid Military Leave Policy Caveats
One of the most critical aspects of what Friendly Forces does is that it digs past the surface level to find out what an employer’s military leave policy looks like.
We look at the conditions that are attached to it.
All companies will tell you they offer military leave if you ask. Cool. They are legally obligated to let you perform your required military service. However, they might also neglect to mention that it’s unpaid military leave.
Many companies will tell you that they offer paid military leave. Cool.
Oh, they forgot to mention it’s only paid for 5 days a year with a lifetime cap of 10 days. Oh, and you have to have worked for the company for a year first to be eligible to use it. Oh, and you have to be deploying to a combat zone—not PME, or Annual Training, or a non-combat rotation. Those don’t count, FREELOADER.
Sometimes the caveats in these policies seem completely arbitrary. This is because they are often crafted by HR types who have no experience whatsoever with the military. Many times, the policies don’t mean what they say, and they don’t say what they mean.
My own company policy dictates that an employee must have worked with the organization a minimum of 60 days before becoming eligible for paid military leave.
I know someone that has a short-term military school coming up that just found this out the hard way.
How dare they have a military obligation less than 60 days into a job.
Way to support the troops.
=======================================================
And, as always, we want to get more companies added to the Friendlies List to best service the Reservist community.
Good or bad, reach out and let us know your company’s policy. If it’s good—we want to add them to our list. If it’s bad, we want to partner and help them—and you.
Reach out to [email protected] to submit.

See What Shift is All About
On principle, I do not plug bullshit. I won’t put the Friendly Forces name behind programs or products that I do not believe in myself.
If you’re a veteran in the job market, whether you’re looking for a career pivot or to find your first civilian job, do yourself a favor and check out Shift.
You choose a career field/path, they assess you, they train you, they put you in front of companies hiring for those roles, and you get hired.
This is such a cheatcode compared to just blasting out resumes or using internal referrals.
And it’s free.
Think of it as a mini-MBA before they put you into interviews with their company partners.
Seriously. If you want a change or need a job, sign up and give it a shot.
It’s self-paced too.

This might work? We don’t know…
The Army PaYS Program
Despite what I said above, I have not used this program myself. I did look through it, but did not sign up for any interviews.
However, I think it has promise. Somebody do it and report back.
Have you heard of the Army PaYS Program? It stands for Partnership for Your Success (very clever, Army).
Here’s the gist: Set up an account and you can filter for companies that are partnered with the Army by state.
What’s unique is that this program guarantees you 5 interviews (allegedly).
If true, that’s a pretty big advantage.
Currently, over 1,000 companies across industries – from Fortune 500s to local businesses – are proud PaYS partners.

The Fratty Guard Updates
Bad Chadwick, Bad.
Captain Chadwick completed the brokering of a massive partnership between Anduril Industries and Meta this week.
Maybe you heard about it.
Anyway, the stress of closing this deal almost killed him. So much so that he didn’t even really come up with any content for this week’s newsletter.
Therefore, he has opted to share about unit collabs that his store is doing.
Wow what a piece of shit.
If you’re interested in getting your platoon / squad / division some hot undershirts or PTs, hit us up and we’ll make some ill shit together.
-Thx, CPT Chadwick
